The True Island Fortress is the nineteenth and penultimate mission in the original Airforce Delta. It, again, involves attacking a heavily armed fortress and destroying the nuclear missiles located on the fort, as well as destroying all the ground enemies present.
It appeared as though our assault had silenced the fortress city, but we only succeeded in damaging its surface strata.
The Federation government is urging our forces to surrender, with one finger on the nuclear missileactually six hidden away within the fortress.
We will not succumb to their ludicrous threats.
Your mission is to prevent the launch of the nuclear missile, and to neutralize the fortress.
This will be the last battlenot really, and their resistance should be that much more fierce.
Remove these obstacles, and clear the way to peace.
We're counting on you, lieutenant.
This is it! The big finale of the game! (not really) Now you have to destroy the fortress... Again! Only now there are more missile pods around. Wonderful!
Seriously though, again, this mission is nothing too special. There are lots of enemies around, but... Not as much as in Mobile Infantry. It's big and climactic and stuff, but it's really nothing too difficult in the end. Although, keep an eye out for the swarms of planes when you go after the target F-22.
But hey, we beat this level! So what's next, I wonder?
A one-on-one dogfight with the big bad of the game, of course!
- This is the last mission with ground enemies in the game.
- This is the last mission with optional enemies in the game.
- This is the only level in the game to have two different versions of the same plane in the same level (The blue non-target F-22s, and the lone mahogany black F-22 target).
